Research Director & Staff Attorney Indigenous Food & Agriculture Initiative
Arkansas

Erin currently serves as Research Director and Staff Attorney for the Indigenous Food & Agriculture Initiative at the University of Arkansas School of Law, a nationally focused organization serving Tribal communities on issues related to health and wellness, healthy food systems, diversified economic development, and cultural food traditions in Indian Country. As Research Director, Erin supports the Initiative primarily through research and analysis of the legislative and regulatory issues affecting Tribal governments, businesses, and individual producers. The bulk of her professional work centers on the tension between the tectonic plates of food & agricultural law and federal Indian law, and as part of this work, she is currently part of a team of Initiative attorneys developing a Tribal Model Food & Agriculture Code. In addition to her role at the Initiative, Erin also sits on the Council for Native American Farming and Ranching, a federal advisory committee that advises the Secretary of Agriculture on American Indian and Alaska Native issues related to agricultural production. She chairs the Administration and Food Insecurity subcommittees for the Council. Erin is a proud "Law Hog" and holds both her J.D. and her LL.M. in Agricultural & Food Law from the University of Arkansas, where she periodically teaches courses in Advanced Legal Research and Federal Nutrition Law & Policy to LL.M. candidates.
