Melody Harvey, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral fellow in the National Poverty Fellows Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Institute for Research on Poverty. Her research focuses on effects of consumer, social, and higher education policies on economically vulnerable populations in the United States. Within the context of ACCI, her research interests span financial services and consumer education.

Harvey is currently conducting a study on the impacts of state-mandated financial education on savings, debt, and bank account holdings, and is contemplating potential research questions pertaining to effects of financial education on postsecondary education aspirations. Her dissertation examined the effects of state-mandated financial education on high-cost borrowing and postsecondary education decisions among economically vulnerable young adults. She also explored prevalence of recall bias in financial education.
